The microwaves are preferentially used for processing of food that naturally contains water. For the food industry, Microglass has developed systems combining microwaves, infrared, hot air and saturated steam for the following processes: defrosting, heating, temperature holding, pasteurizing, sanification and cooking.

The Microwaves penetrate in depth when heating up the food. The Infrared operate on surface. Thanks to the direct irradiation or contact with irradiated surfaces, it is possible to obtain golden brown and crunchy food. The hot air removes the excess humidity which is evacuated by means of microwaves.

The applications are various and useful both in big plants of industrial transformation and small domestic applications. In fact, Microglass knew how to take advantage of the natural versatility of the technology that, when united with the heating technologies know-how, allows its application in a wide range of areas, including industrial plant design and installation, machines implementations, serial components production (kit of power supply and generation of microwaves, systems of infrared irradiation) and many others.

All the types of processes feasible with microwaves have been applied in prototypes and pre-engineering. For instance, these systems were inserted inside the automatic distributors (with the aim to reduce the waiting time for the consumer, guaranteeing optimal food quality, flavour and taste, and cleaning of the distributor itself) and inside the counters for buffet. These applications also allowed construction of plants for pasteurization of pre-cooked food and for combined processing (from defrosting to cooking). In brief, a wide choice of studied offers in order to meet in the very best way the expectations of the client either in terms of energy consumption or in quality terms of the final product.
